Automating Follow-Up Tasks
Two toggleable rules that create a follow-up task for you automatically, so nothing needs remembering.
What automation does here
Two simple on/off rules, each with one trigger and one action: when a deal is marked Won, a follow-up task is created automatically; when a new contact is added, a follow-up call task is created automatically. Both are due 3 days out and assigned to the person responsible (the deal owner, or whoever added the contact).
Why these exist separately from Custom Rules
These two cover the single highest-value case — the moment right after a win or a new lead — with zero setup: just flip a switch. If you need something more specific (a condition, a different action, a different trigger), see Building Custom Automation Rules further down the same Settings page.
When to turn these on
As soon as you notice yourself (or a teammate) forgetting to follow up after closing a deal or adding a new lead. There's no downside to leaving both on by default — worst case, a task exists that turns out not to be needed and gets marked done immediately.
How to turn them on
- Go to Settings → Automation.
- Toggle "When a deal is marked Won" and/or "When a new contact is added" on.
- From then on, the relevant task is created automatically — check Tasks or the record's detail page to see it.
Turning a rule off only stops *new* tasks from being created going forward — it doesn't remove tasks already created while it was on.
