Record History: Who Changed What, and When

Every contact, company, deal, lead and invoice/quote has a History tab showing who edited, created, or deleted it.

What it does

A History panel on every contact, company, deal, lead, and invoice/quote detail page — click to expand it under the record's other sections. It shows a plain-language line for every meaningful change: who did it, what changed, and exactly when.

Why this matters

Two people on the same team both touch a deal's value, or a contact's phone number gets edited and nobody remembers why — History answers "who did this and when" without anyone having to ask around. It's also what tells you a record's whole story after it's gone: if a contact or deal is deleted, its History survives the deletion, so you can still see who created it, what was changed along the way, and who removed it.

What gets tracked

Field-level changes on the fields that actually matter day to day — name, contact details, deal value/stage/status, lead status, and so on — not every internal timestamp. A change is only logged if the value actually changed; saving a form without touching anything doesn't add noise to the history.

Creation and deletion are logged too. Every record's History starts with who created it, and if it's later deleted, that's the final entry — recorded against the record's own history, not lost with the record itself.

What it doesn't do

This isn't the same as the Activity timeline (notes, calls, meetings you log deliberately) — History is automatic and field-level, capturing edits you make through the normal edit forms, not something you write yourself. Bulk actions like CSV import log a single creation entry per record, the same as creating one by hand.

Available on every plan, including the trial and Starter — this is a trust feature, not something to gate behind a tier.
